Bob was born in Hollywood California on June 20th, 1948. He came to Alaska in 1975 to visit a friend and never looked back. While born in California, Bob was pure Alaskan. He had a hard time sitting still. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and fishing was his main religion. He also loved to hunt, snow machine and run dogs. He participated in the 2000 and 2001 Serum Run "25" and the 1992, 1994 and 1997 Iditarod.

Bob worked at the Hotel Captain Cook for 28 years as Bartender, Beverage Manager and Manager of Fletcher's. He literally had hundreds of friends. Bob also gave back to the community. He served on many Boards including Serum Run"25", the Boys and Girls Club and Ducks Unlimited. He was a strong supporter of AWAIC (Abused Women's Aid In Crisis) and was part of a wonderful auction team that helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for a variety of charities throughout Anchorage.

Bob had a real zest for life. He lived everyday to its fullest. He loved to tell jokes and pull pranks. However, his biggest joy was his family. Bob had three children, Shaylene, Kerrisa and Bobby and two grandchildren Audrey Louise and Cameron Robert. Audrey was the brightest light in her "Papa's" life. Unfortunately, Cameron didn't get to meet his grandfather, but the family will make sure that he gets to know him by sharing all of the wonderful memories!

Bob married his girlfriend of ten years, Sue, in April of 2003 and they moved into their new home in May. At the end of May Bob was, very unexpectedly, diagnosed with incurable stomach cancer. He passed away a month later on June 29th.

While Bob is no longer with us physically, he lives on in many ways. If there are any unexplained pranks on the Serum Run trail this year, it's probably Bob Ernisse that's pulling them!
