Jane Faulkner
- 2007 Serum Run Musher
I moved to
Alaska with my son, Zachary Adam, 16 years ago from California.
Got started with sled dogs 7 years ago and here I am on my 3rd
Serum Run. Wow!! Time flies. Our kennel name is Play More Kennels
(Work Less) and it consists of 36 dogs cared for and trained by
myself, Valerie Bubb, Mindee Morning & Robb Bear. We are currently
training 8 new puppies; part of the 36 dogs. We also have 3 horses
& a mule that are used for pleasure, packing, 4-H and whatever
else I can involve them in. I work at Central Peninsula Hospital
in Soldotna. Have been there 15 years and currently work in the
Emergency Department. I couldn't do all this without their support,
so I thank them for their patience with me. This past summer I
also worked for Alaskan Horsemen Adventures in Cooper Landing
doing tours around the area that I have grown to love so much.
I couldn't have a better life.
I am fortunate to have met someone who also enjoys working &
spending time with dogs and horses as much as I do. Robb and I
met years ago when he took on a sickly sled dog pup that never
would have made it without him. He nursed this dog to better health
than any of the other pups that year. I would "baby-sit"
for him when he was on vacation. Our first date was the Tustumena
200 banquet/his birthday 2 years ago, and it has been doggy bliss
ever since then. I can hardly wait to travel across Alaska with
him and our team of dogs.
