JEFF DAVIS - 2007 MUSHER

I am 46 years old. I moved to Alaska in January of 1989. My wife, Gay Davis and I live just north of Talkeetna in a small home we have been building for the last five years. We do not have running water in our house and make our own electricity. We have 40 dogs in our kennel and spend most or our time taking care of the dogs, hauling water, cutting firewood, and building our house. We have five children from previous marriages ranging in age from 10 to 21. We are biologists. We run and work for a small non-profit research organization called the Aquatic Restoration and Research Institute. The organization conducts water quality and fish habitat studies and develops projects that restore damaged stream systems. I previously worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Ketchikan and Anchorage, and for the Coastal Management Program in Anchorage. I am also a Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Technician) and worked at the Alaska Native Medical Center for a number of years.
