KURT ADLER - Snow machine Support

I have lived in Alaska for 25 years. I moved here with my family because my father is a Geologist and was working in the mineral exploration industry. I followed suit and with my brothers and father started prospecting in the interior at the age of 16. We started our own exploration company in 1982 in which we worked mostly for the mom and pop placer miners employing geophysical instrumentation to help them pin point their most economic ground. In my early years, I worked in many other professions. Ditch digger, construction, remodel, and even a short stint crabbing in the Bering Sea. I eventually took a job in geological exploration with Comico Alaska Exploration. This enabled me to really see Alaska. I traveled from the Lisburne Hills north of the Arctic Circle to Prince of Wales Island in South East. It was a great opportunity to explore and get to visit the villages and people of Alaska.

I married my wonderful wife Joan in 1994 and for the most part left working in bush Alaska. In 1996, the day my twin daughters were born, I started work with AAA-1 Subaru. The name has now changed to AAA-1 The Shop, which I now own, but we still are an independent Subaru repair and service facility.

I am looking forward to reliving a part of my life that I left a long time ago in a way that is historical, yet very new to me. I’m especially looking forward to the adventure with my long time friend Kurt Jokela whom I’ve already had an adventure or two. It will be great to travel historical trails and keep alive the history of the Serum Run. I’m looking forward to visiting the villages along the route and experiencing first hand the hardships that our pioneers went through in saving the lives of many people.
